Why is Organic Traffic Important?

Organic traffic is the fuel to the fire when it comes to SEO and business growth. Without it, millions of businesses would never flourish as much they have. For example, Amazon, Facebook, Shopify and Instagram. Yes, these are big names in the business we all know and love but internally, smaller creators who use that platform utilize organic traffic to grow their brand and visibility among the sea of competitors.

Furthermore, if multiple people find your site organically google notices that jump. Turning on the green and putting you on top of the search ranking. Every business owner, affiliate marketer and brand marketer want to be on top of the leader board.

It guarantees long term results, compared to the pay per click method. Only delivering quick views but never actual, genuine clients.

Now that you understand why it's so important, we can move on to the techniques of how to increase your organic traffic.

How to increase the traffic to your business

User site experience

user site experience is extremely important when it comes to ranking organically. If people don't understand your site or don't find what they need in the first 6-15 seconds they leave. Google watches those signals or "Bounce rate" determining that people don't like your site and ranks you lower. A way of beating this issue is by looking at your site structure. When it comes to site structure you need a hierarchy in which you organize which content is important for the viewer and the relevance it has on the page.

Here's an example

After you established the hierarchy of where you want things to go, you need to make sure everything looks clean, smooth and colour-coordinated. Nobody wants to go on a site that looks like it was made in the late 1980s.

If you look at the interface of this site, you can see how they have a nice catchy phrasing on the intro, it's relevant and another bonus is the colour scheme.

Content Creation

Content is another piece of the puzzle when it comes to growing your organic traffic and keeping people engaging on your site. Content can range from images, text, videos, podcast or eBooks

Having a strategy is vital when using it to help rank your site or eCommerce store.

  1. Checking your objectives = Do you want more customers or sales

  2. What demographic are you aiming for = learning your audience gives you a clearer view on what to write, video, create podcast and etc.

  3. Staying up to date with relevant information = keep up with daily information on your niche and create ways to turn that news into something entertaining

  4. Analyze your competitors = Never hurts to look at your competition and learn what works for them. Could work for you in the future.

Another piece of information when it comes to content on your site is putting the words written by your competitors on word count. See how much they write and match that or exceed it. However, don't overdo it, by stuffing your home page with random wording to beat your competitor. Use real information that people can actually benefit from.

Blogs are a nice extension of content to add to your page. It shows how active and knowledgeable you are in your niche, plus it attracts new visitors to your site.

Keyword Research

keyword research is one of the fundamental pieces when it comes to organic traffic and ranking. Keywords resemble the last piece on the Tetris board you need to fill to finish the mission. It permits google to link people to the specific things they're looking for.

If you have the right keywords or close to, google will sometimes help you become the match someone is looking for.

Keywords can vary from short- tail too long-tail keywords for example

(barber NYC) <-- this is a short tail keyword

(barbershop in Brooklyn) <--- this is a long tail keyword

Google enjoys it when people use long tails because they know exactly what they want and they don't randomly search. If you have the right keywords you should be good.

The tools you can use are Google keyword planner which is free, Bing keyword searcher, semrush or adrefs.

Put those keywords in your meta title and meta-text of all your pages (depending on how much you have). This will help Google search pick your content or services instead of a competitor that lacks those important phrases.
